7 Days Self-drive Safari in Uganda
A well-organized 7 days self-drive safari in Uganda will fit in your one full week time you have in
the country. All you need to is to have that strong 4×4 car rental to handle is amazing rewarding
safari proposal. This is a simple safari going through the western Uganda covering parks like
Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kibale National Park. On this
self-drive safari expect to do a Boat cruise, game drives, horse riding, visiting Katwe salt lake,
track chimpanzees, bird watching and nature walks. The adventure will take the western route
and gives a remarkable wildlife experience. The 7 days Uganda safari starts from either
Kampala or Entebbe take the designed route and ends at either Kampala or Entebbe
International Airport.

Day 1: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park
Today upon reaching the Entebbe airport you will meet with our driver to pick your car rental.
Upon having your 4wdd safari car will embark on a drive to Lake Mburo National Park western
of Kampala about 200km. With lunch en-route and photography shooting at Kayabwe Equator
on Kampala-Masaka, will continue driving reaching the park by evening hours, check-in at your
lodge. Then will take a night game drive which is a perfect idea of sighting prides of lions and
leopards actively hunting.

Day 2: Explore Lake Mburo National Park
This morning take a wild boat ride on Lake Mburo, boat cruise literally starts from Rwonnyo jetty
and the earliest one starts at 8:00am. The wild scenic boat ride can last for two hours floating
besides the hippos, crocodiles, as buffalos, zebras, waterbuck and many others. After a boat
ride, will take a rest and after the lunch refreshments will take a horse ride. The horseback ride
is a cool and none polluting way of engaging nature. The horseback ride is organized by
Mihingo Lodge under the guidance of expertise instructors. The horse ride fees vary according
to the time you’re to spend in the field.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
This day following your served breakfast, will en-roll on a drive to Queen Elizabeth National
Park. Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s most famous park and second visited park in Uganda.
Reaching the Park, take a drive to Katwe salt Lake to see salt mining activities. The will drive
and check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Mid-range: Kasenyi Safari Camp
Day 4: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park (Game drive & boat cruise)
Advice you drive to Kasenyi section early morning for one of the most rewarding game drives.
Consider the first morning drives of done at early at 6am for a view of the arrays of sunrise.
Over 100 hundreds of Uganda Kobs will welcome at their mating ground in Kasenyi. This drive
connects to the real wild adventure while driving through various trucks. Expect to find herds of
antelopes, buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs among so many other animals call
Queen Elizabeth particularly Kasenyi section their home. Alongside countless number of bird
species, this park is home to over 600 bird species.
Following the game drive consider lunch refreshments at your lodge, then drive to Mweya
peninsular for a wild boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga channel is an amazing water
channel jeweled with stunning golden landscapes. The water channel connects two lakes of
Lake Gorge and Lake Edward. A boat cruise here exposes great wild amusements and
sceneries. Among the encounters include school of hippo, monitor lizards, crocodiles, water and
land bird species, and larger herds of elephants, buffalos, antelopes are always scene at the
banks of the water channel. After about 2 to 3 hours the boat cruise will be done, then return to
your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Mid-range: Kasenyi Safari Camp
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Following your relaxed served delicious breakfast, will embark on your drive and transfer to
Kibale National Park northwards through Kasese town. It’s about 2 hours’ drive, but should en-
route to Fort Portal city and take a drive to Amabere caves and explore the amazing stories of
the Bachwezi dynasty. Then, later with lunch en-route will drive to Kibale National Park for
dinner and overnight.
Mid-range: Primate Lodge
Day 6: Track Chimpanzees
Following the served early morning breakfast, will hurry to Kanyachu starting point for a briefing
on the tracking etiquettes. After being grouped will be led by an armed ranger guide to roll into
the thick forest and start searching for the habituated chimpanzees. The track can last between
30 minutes to about 2 hours to find your assigned group while walking and finding your own
path through the thick and impassable tropics. It’s a bit tiresome to track chimpanzees,
however, finding the species you forget all the hurdle passed through. It’s a lifetime moment
finding these half man species and here you find out that they imitate almost all human
characters. It’s strictly one full hour before the species, and after you walk back to the starting
point. You are exhausted and need to relax, will drive to your lodge and refresh with lunch. Then
in the afternoon hours will visit the Bigodi community to understand the lifestyle of people living
around the park. On visit you can even buy souvenirs and return back to your lodge for dinner
and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala
Today following your relaxed served breakfast, transfer back to Kampala, It’s about 5 hours of
driving. However, can consider a cultural en-route at Walube Entanda in Mityana. It’s believed
to be the place where the first Muganda person lived and was followed by a brother-law called
Walumbe who turned into a spirit of death. You will be surprised by the mass of people you can
finds around doing traditional worshiping. Hope you buy sandals before reaching the area, as no
one is allowed to walk around the areas in shoes. Let’s call it a bare foot walk. Then with lunch
en-route will continue to Kampala, or even use the Entebbe express provided you’re flying back
this day.
